πΊοΈ TAC Mapping wiki
Everything the FMJ team has added to the Joint Ops mapping tools, explained step by step: map colours in MED, colour actions in Nile, the WAC script commands, and the fixes in MED v2 and Nile 1.6. Written for TAC mappers, kept up to date with every new build.
What is on this wiki
| Section | What you will find |
|---|---|
| Getting started | Which MED, which Nile and which DLL you need, where to get them and how to install them without the TAC updater wiping them. |
| Map colours | How Joint Ops colours a map (fog, horizon, sun, sky light, ground light, lightning), why the fog numbers are halved, and who sees what. Then the step-by-step guides for MED, Nile and WAC scripts, and ready-made recipes. |
| MED | Everything new in MED v2: bigger limits, autosave, crash files, Import Binary Mission, all 1,024 events in the pickers. |
| Nile | What is new in Nile 1.6 TEST6: the big TAC files, autosave, crash files, the colour actions. |
| WAC scripting | How a .wac script works, then every command the game knows: triggers (the IF part) and actions (the THEN part), with what runs in multiplayer. |
| Help | "My fog is solid red", "nothing changes in game", "my trigger points at event 0" and other questions mappers have actually hit. |
Where this comes from
Almost everything here was worked out from the game itself: the FMJ team traced how Joint Ops reads maps and scripts, then built and tested the tools against that. Where something has only been traced in the code and not yet tried in a real match, the page says so. If you find something that does not behave the way a page says, tell us in TAC Mappers HQ on Discord and the page gets fixed.
This wiki is separate from the WolfRAT wiki. WolfRAT is the server admin tool; this wiki is for making maps.
Stay up to date
New builds are announced in #announcements in TAC Mappers HQ. Every build changes the Versions page first, so that is the place to check what changed and which build you should be using.
