π¬ Chat Bot tab
Watch and join in with the game chat, let players swap teams by themselves, and have WolfRAT deal with bad language and chat spammers while you are not looking.

Live Chat
Everything players say, as it happens. Type in the box and press Enter or Send to talk to the server; your lines show up as [ADMIN].
A chat line can be 59 characters at most - the counter next to the box shows how many you have used. That limit is the game's: it cuts every line at 59, so WolfRAT keeps everything it says inside it.
Long chat (servers with the long chat patch)
Under the chat box is a tick box, My server has the long chat patch (118 characters + colours). It is off to begin with, and it should stay off unless your game server runs the long chat patch (the What is this? link next to it opens that page).
- Ticked, the chat box, the rotating messages and the welcome message take up to 118 characters, and colour codes reach the players:
<c40c0ff>Welcome<co> to my server!shows "Welcome" in light blue and the rest in the normal colour. Players need nothing - their game already shows it. - A colour code is 9 characters and
<co>(back to the normal colour) is 4, and both count towards the 118. A line can have at most 23 words. - On a normal server, leave it off. A long line would only be cut at 59, and colour codes are taken out.
- Unticking it never throws your saved messages away: anything longer than 59 is sent in two parts instead.
You will also see WolfRAT's own notes here in colour: [SWAP], [FILTER] and [ANTI-SPAM] lines tell you when it has done something by itself.
Team Swaps
Lets any player change teams by typing a word in chat - no admin needed.
- Enable auto-swap on chat trigger - on by default.
- Trigger word -
!switchunless you change it (!swapand!teamare popular).
When a player types it, WolfRAT moves them to the other team and respawns them at their new base. To stop people hopping back and forth, each player can only do it once every 2 minutes.
Tell your players about it - the private welcome has a second line made for exactly that.
Block team swaps on co-op maps (2.8.0)
On a co-op map the other team is the bots - and some players were using !switch to join them and shoot their own side. With this box ticked (it is on by default), on co-op maps:
!switchdoes nothing and the player is told "No team swaps on co-op maps" (once a minute at most).- Moderators'
!swap,!mixteamsand!balanceteamsare refused the same way. - The web admin's Swap is refused, and the Players tab's buttons ask or explain first.
WolfRAT knows it is a co-op map by reading the game type from the server, so this needs the server on the same PC as WolfRAT. On another machine swaps simply work as before.
Bad Words Filter
The word list
Type a word, choose what should happen - Warn, Kick or Ban - and press Add. Each word can have its own punishment, so mild words can earn a warning and the worst ones a ban. Remove Selected takes a word off the list.
| Action | What the player gets |
|---|---|
| Warn | A public "Watch your language!" warning in chat. |
| Kick | Kicked, and the server is told why. |
| Ban | Banned, and the server is told why. |
It matches the letters anywhere in a message, even inside a longer, innocent word. Be careful with short words: adding "ass" would also catch "pass" and "class". Stick to words that cannot appear inside normal ones.
The word list is saved and comes back after a restart (from WolfRAT 2.6.5 - older versions forgot it when WolfRAT closed).
Anti-Spam
Enable Anti-Spam kicks a player who sends too many messages too quickly. Out of the box that is 6 messages in 5 seconds, and you can change both numbers. The server is told who was kicked and why.
Good to know
- When WolfRAT first connects it ignores the chat that was already there, so old messages never trigger a swap or a kick.
- The filter and the anti-spam only work while WolfRAT is running and connected.
